Chess team pits their wits against city schools
Our chess team had a brilliant attitude at the recent chess tournament at Bristol Grammar School showing great resilience and positivity throughout. Although the organisers were aware that we were novices they did not give us an easy time.
Our first opposition, QEH A team, was last years National Winners. We battled hard and our team spent the time chatting to QEH players afterwards, gaining tips for future games.
In our next round, we managed to secure 1.5 points with Max winning his game and a draw being secured in one of the other games.
The team felt that they were better players for taking part and are keen to practise more so they can do better next time. They are already making plans to return for the next tournament in March!
If any parents have any spare chess boards, we would very happily receive them, to help more students practise this brilliant game of strategy. Just drop them at Reception for the attention of Dr Murray.
