Bugsy Malone is coming to Orchard School!

Published on 25/09/18

We are extremely excited to announce that a musical is coming to Orchard School next year – and will be performed by our very own students.

Our performance of Bugsy Malone, a musical gangster comedy, will take place in term four across two nights, from April 2 and 3.

Students will meet every Monday after school for rehearsals and a range of different roles are on offer – from performing on stage to working behind scenes on lighting and costume design.

A showing of a stage version of Bugsy Malone was watched by students at the start of the term to find out what the show is about.

So, what’s the story? It’s the year 1929, set in New York City.

One powerful gangster named Fat Sam has a gang who constantly fight against the sneaky Dandy Dan and his group of cronies. Their weapons? Splurge guns and custard pies.

Smooth talking, man about town Bugsy Malone is hired to help Fat Sam out.

Bugsy meets Blousey Brown, a beautiful girl who dreams of being a singer but cannot get a break as Fat Sam is only interested in letting his girlfriend Tallulah perform.

The big question is: will Bugsy choose the life of a gangster over his girlfriend Blousey and her big dream?
