    Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to parents and carers for your kind words of support following the tragic loss
of a pupil earlier this week. With a Bank Holiday weekend coming up, we hope this will
be a time for families to pull together, give children some space and time to process,
and check in with each other. We are encouraging children to look out for each other
and keep in touch over the longer weekend. An unexplained death is difficult to process
and reasons and rumours spread, which can be unhelpful for children. Please do
encourage them not to speculate or add to social media at this time.

In the light of this, it can feel strange to write about positive events that have happened
in school this week, however I think children have appreciated holding on to normal,
    everyday activities.

We had a visit for a small group of students to attend Burges Salmon to see life in a law
firm. Huge congratulations are in order for all our students who learned and performed
a poem for the National Poetry by Heart competition. We were thrilled to find out that
two of our school community, Massey and a member of staff, Miss Hardy, have become
national finalists and are invited to perform at the Globe Theatre in London!

Year 10 had a trip to Birmingham on Thursday and explored Cadbury World as a business
model. They thoroughly enjoyed the visit, and for many of them opened their eyes to
business and finance, the countryside and busy urban spaces beyond Bristol. The
success of this trip means that we will aim to build this into an annual event for Year 10.

We look forward to seeing children back in on Tuesday, and good luck to students for
their GCSE Spanish and French GCSE speaking exams next week. I wish you all a
peaceful and relaxing Bank Holiday and we wish all our Muslim friends and families Eid
    Mubarak!

    Best wishes
    Julia Hinchliffe, Headteacher
