Dear parents and carers
I am writing to inform you of our Sports Day plans for next week. I am happy to confirm that Sports Day is still going to take place this year, although not as we originally planned.
We will run separate events for each year group so students do not break their village bubbles and we will ensure there is space for suitable social distancing during the event. Our students have been working hard in lessons to earn lots of participation points for their house teams in the build-up to Sports Day and we are so pleased that next week each year group can have a final day of competition. The day and time for each year is listed below:
Year 7 -Tuesday 6th July lessons 1& 2
Year 8 -Tuesday 6th July lessons 3&4 (students have a slightly later lunch at?12.50pm)
Year 9 -Thursday 8th July lessons 1& 2
Year 10 - Wednesday 7th July lesson 4
On each Sports Day, the relevant year group students come to school in their Orchard PE kit and a house-coloured top. If they do not have a house coloured top then they wear their usual black Orchard polo shirt. Students have been advised to bring water. If your child does not have the full Orchard PE kit, then they will need to come to school in normal, correct school uniform.
On the day, students will take part in a variety of athletic events, tug of war and leadership roles to earn points for their house team. These points will be added to points accumulated throughout the year and will lead to an overall house winner for the 2020-21 house competition.
Unfortunately, parents are unable to spectate, but we will take plenty of photographs where permissions allow, and the event will be celebrated in the next school newsletter.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
