Dear parents and carers
I hope this letter finds you and your families well. We have had a good week at school,
with some wonderful high quality teaching and learning going on.
Thank you to Year 11 parents for attending the Parents Consultation Evening last night.
All Parents Evenings this year are continuing virtually this year, and meetings are arranged
for 5 minutes through an online platform. This means you can see the teacher and talk
to them using a smartphone, iPad or computer, from your own home.

full details will be shared directly with Year 9 parents, carers and students.

Year 11 Exams
Through January students in Year 11 are sitting some vocational exams, and mock
exams in preparation for GCSEs. This week students sat the OCR Sports Science
external exam and mock exams in Engineering. Students have worked well in these
exams so far. Despite nerves they have been positive and valuable experiences for
students who are getting used to exam formalities and techniques.
Year 11s are revising well, and are aware that these mock exam results may contribute
to their Teacher Assessed Grade, if exams were not to go ahead in the summer due to
Covid. At present, we are on Plan A for exams, which is that children will be sitting GCSEs
and other exam courses in the summer.
Thank you for continuing to provide face coverings for students. We are following
government guidance on face coverings, which is due to be reviewed on 26 January.
Thank you also for continuing to ensure your children are testing twice a week on Sunday
eve/Monday morning, and on Wednesday eve/Thursday morning. Lateral Flow tests
were handed out to children yesterday, and more are available from Reception if
necessary; they just need to ask.
Self-Isolation Rules are changing again
From Monday 17 January, people with COVID-19 in England can end their self-isolation
after 5 full days, as long as they test negative on day 5 and day 6.
• People self-isolating with COVID-19 will have the option to reduce their isolation period after 5 full days if they test negative on both day 5 and day 6 and do not have a temperature,
• Individuals who are still positive on their rapid lateral flow tests must stay in
isolation until they have had 2 consecutive negative tests taken on separate days
The news release is here: self-isolation-government and we await full updated
