Dear parents and carers
I hope you and your family are well.

Covid Cases in School

Sadly we have had some positive Covid cases in Year 9 today, and some children will need to self-isolate. It is an important reminder of how transmissible the new DELTA variant is. Please continue Lateral Flow Testing on Sundays and Wednesdays and report results.

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (Covid-19) are recent onset of:

• new continuous cough and/or
• high temperature and/or
• a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

Symptoms may be mild in children, and your child may only have one or two of these. If your child has symptoms, do not send them into school. Book a PCR test, and let the school know you are waiting for results.

A PCR test can be booked here: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by phoning 119. If the PCR test comes back positive, other members of the household are close contacts and need to isolate for 10 days. Friends of close contacts do not need to isolate, unless they get a call from Test & Trace or they develop symptoms.

Please phone the school immediately 0117 377 2000 if your child has developed symptoms or is a close contact.

Parent Survey

We are pleased to give you the opportunity to feed back on your overall experience of Orchard School over the year. Please remember this is a holistic view – we want to know about how things are generally, rather than anything relating to an individual or a particular single event. We would be hugely grateful if you could complete this before the end of term.

Health Webinars

Parents may be interested in some webinars on children’s wellbeing, eating disorders, dental health and sleep. You can find out more by going to our website, and looking for Parent Courses. These are run by Sirona.

I wish you all a good weekend. Many thanks for your continued support.

With best wishes

Julia Hinchliffe, Headteacher
