Dear Parents and Carers

Anti-Bullying Week & Odd Socks Day

Next week, beginning 15 November is Orchard Anti-Bullying week. This year the theme is 'One Kind Word'. We are marking this by sending each other kindness cards to show our appreciation for each other, and by engaging in discussions about bullying.?

However, the most important day of the week is Odd Socks Day on Friday 19 November. All students and staff can wear the brightest socks or tights that they can find on that day to celebrate difference and diversity. There will be a prize for the best and brightest socks or tights in each year group!

We are fund raising for our?school’s charity?Aid Box Community on this day too. This local charity?does fantastic work providing support, supplies and sanctuary to Bristol's refugees and asylum seekers. You can find out more about this year's charity here:?https://www.aidboxcommunity.co.uk/. Participation?in Odd Socks Day?last year was?phenomenal; we raised over £200 for the North Bristol Food Bank! We hope we can make a similar contribution to this year’s charity, showing kindness to people in need. We are suggesting a donation of £1 to Aid Box Community if you can. These donations can be made via Parent Pay.

On Odd Socks Day there is also going to be a bake sale. If your child can bake or provide a contribution to this, please do support us! We will need a list of ingredients with the cakes. Children will be able to buy cakes on this day, so will need a little cash (20p, 50p, £1) if they’d like to purchase a cake.

Thank you so much for your child's participation in this event.

Yours sincerely,

Grace Byron
