Parent Voice - 21.03.18

Published on 23/03/18

Thank you to all of the parents who came to our Parent Voice meetings this week. Here's an overview of some of the areas of school life which were talked about ...

School website

Our website was first on the agenda.  We carried out some searches to discover what information was easy and difficult to find.  Please let us know if you have struggled to find anything on our website or if there is anything you would like to see on our site (see contact details at the bottom of this page).

Moving to secondary school

Next was supporting parents in their move to secondary school.  Some of the parents kindly allowed us to film them giving their tips to parents and children starting secondary school.  If you have any tips you think would be good to share with other parents please let me know.

Celebrating your child's achievements at school

Parents felt that we celebrated the children's achievements well - they particularly enjoy the certificates home.  Let me know what you think.

E-safety session for parents

We are planning an information session for parents on how to keep their families safe while using the internet.  Parents shared ideas of what they would like to be included in this session. We would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions.

School planners

Last but not least, we talked about planners as all students will have these next academic year.  Parents had lots of ideas including  useful websites and phone numbers, calendar with term dates and inset days, e-mails of key people in school.

Our parent voice sessions are relaxed and informal gatherings where parents help the school on its improvement journey. We would love to hear from more parents so please come along and join us at our next meeting on 20th June, 12-1pm or 6-7pm, or drop me an email with your thoughts.

If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like to give some feedback or suggestions about what discussed, please contact Helen Howard at h.howard@osb.school.
