Historians at Chepstow Castle

Published on 19/01/15

On Friday 16th January a group of 28 year 11 History students undertook their coursework field trip to Chepstow Castle, Wales.

The weather was bright which we were thankful for as there is no shelter in the remains of the castle, even so there were plenty of cold hands and feet. The students  explored the castle writing down their findings on certain features of the castle. In places, the students needed to use their imaginations to visualise how the would have looked castle in all its grandeur. Parts of the castle have been restored like Marten's Tower and the high castle walls. However, much of the original features have been destroyed or lost over time. Despite this the students enjoyed finding the remains of the medieval toilet and prison.
