Year 7s had the opporunity to spend a day at the forest school at Leigh Court.

They were taught vital survival skills as well as having a great day out, cementing new friendships built over the first few weeks in secondary school.

The students made twine from nettle fibres, and they learnt how to start fires using fire steels - which was not as easy at it looked from the demonstration!

Students also designed a shelter and gathered material from the woods to build it with. Laurel leaves were used to water-proof the shelters then  buckets of water were thrown over the dens to test if it worked, with mixed results!
