Hundreds of schoolchildren from Bristol performed Ahoy! – an exciting new performance based on King Henry VIII’s warship, the Mary Rose – in front of a big audience at the Colston Hall.

Our With One Voice Partnership (WOVP) – a collaboration between schools in North Bristol – joined up with Bristol Plays Music and the Bristol Choral Society for this sea spectacular.

The schools involved were: Orchard School, Filton Avenue Primary, Upper Horfield Primary, Fonthill Primary, St Teresa’s Catholic Primary, Horfield CofE Primary, Stoke Park Primary, St Bernard’s Primary, Sefton Park Primary and Badock’s Wood Primary.

The hour-long choral cantata – a vocal composition with an instrumental accompaniment – celebrates the tragic and inspiring story of the Mary Rose, which sank 500 years ago.
