Well what can I say. Last week it was all about learning a lesson - taking on board what went wrong and fixing it fast.
This week we had a full team training Tuesday and Wednesday after school, looking at the break down and moving the ball out.
The result was simple. Steen Maxwell and Lewis George cleared the rucks like their life depended on it. Nathan in his first start was protected at the back of the ruck for a clear pass to his backs. They were electric. Reece, Jake and Max made excellent use of the ball and the correct decision to allow Anthony to score a hat trick in 15 minutes.
They blocked Anthony's channel so the ball moved left allowing Yasin to score s great try. Then we went up the middle, which saw seen Reece Oliver and Frank Godfree score a brace each.
A total of eight tries to zero, and five conversions saw us win 50-0 against St Mary Redcliffe (last year's runners up).
The tries were all excellent because they were created by the team. No solo players. Team work, trust, determination and real control in shocking weather. They made OSB proud!
They were so made up by the staff support, including Mr Grafton and Mr Pitt - the boys used that as a motivation, and helped the students develop real pride, thank you for your support.
I will up date you all on what happens next once I know.
Thanks, I'm so proud of them.
Man of the match - The man mountain Reece Oliver. He had total control of the game. Made the correct decisions and so physically strong, stealing the ball in the tackle and making so much ground.
Captiain's man of match - Steen Maxwell, for his off-the-ball work, work rate around the park and his ridiculously high tackle count - never missed one. Crucial turn overs of the ball.
